Corns
Definition:
Corns are small callouses which occur on tops, sides, tips and between the toes. Usually they form at a joint on the toe. The friction and pressure which caused the corn usually causes pain as well, especially as the corn becomes harder and thicker. Corns between the toes are sometimes called soft corns.
Cause:
Common causes are tight fitting shoes or socks, deformed toes or movement when the foot slides side to side or forward and back within the shoe.
Treatment and Prevention:
Properly fit, roomy footwear and non binding socks or gel pads between and around the toes help most people. People with diabetes or poor circulation or neuropathy should always consult their doctor. If the problem persists consult your foot doctor.
