Bauerfeind began as a family business in the 1920's in Zeulenroda, Germany. In 1939 the company employed 100 people to manufacture medical compression stockings. Because of Soviet occupation the company moved to a more business friendly location. In 1972 Hans Bauerfeind, grandson of the company founder takes over the company and begins to establish distribution companies all over the world. Today Bauerfeind U.S.A offers orthoses, orthopedic inserts and prosthetic components and is devoted to individual health and wellness with it's products.
